Homes in San Antonio
Hi, I'm Josue Mayfield, MRP. I'm a licensed Texas Realtor, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and a Military Relocation Professional with Big Bexar Realty Group, brokered by Real Broker, LLC. I help buyers and sellers across San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country.
This page gives you a quick look at how San Antonio is laid out, a few of the public places that make it recognizable, and how I can help if you're thinking about buying or selling a home here.
About the area
San Antonio is the seat of Bexar County and sits at the head of the San Antonio River in south central Texas. Several major roads cross the city. Interstate 10 runs east to west, and Interstates 35 and 37 run north to south. Loop 410 and Loop 1604 circle the city, and US 281 runs north toward the Hill Country. San Antonio International Airport is on the city's north side.
The San Antonio River Walk follows the river for about 15 miles in three sections. The Downtown River Walk winds past shops, La Villita, and hotels. The Museum Reach heads north past the San Antonio Museum of Art to Pearl. The Mission Reach runs south as a restored natural corridor with hike-and-bike and paddling trails.
Those Mission Reach trails link downtown to San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. In 2015 the San Antonio Missions, including Mission San Antonio de Valero (better known as the Alamo), became Texas's first UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mission Concepción, Mission San José, Mission San Juan, and Mission Espada are still part of the landscape south of downtown.
There's plenty of green space too. Brackenridge Park opened in 1899. San Pedro Springs Park is considered one of the oldest municipal parks in the United States. Hemisfair, home of the Tower of the Americas, is next to downtown.
Joint Base San Antonio's three primary locations are all on the San Antonio map: JBSA-Fort Sam Houston, JBSA-Lackland, and JBSA-Randolph.
